Périgord.
For truffles, for ducks and geese, Périgord is renowned. The tidal bore of the Dordogne River is a phenomena seen in few places around the world.
The Hundred Years War left its mark on the community as many battles were fought on this land. Still, it holds many castles that have survived the ages. A record exists even further back in time in the caves at Lascaux where ancient drawings were left by earliest man.
Ancient Roman villas and an amphitheater may be found in the town of Périgueux.
Our ancestors who emigrated from Périgord are listed below. The dates reflect the year they arrived in Canada if known, otherwise it is the date of their earliest appearances in the records there:
- Louis Badaillac (1665) of Périgueux.
