La Marche.
Located in the middle of France, La Marche came under the governance of the French crown in 1527 when seized by Francois I. The forested hills and deep valleys are dotted with castles, chateaus and abbeys.
Blessac is in the Creuse River Valley, just a short distance from Aubusson where fine tradesmen wove beautiful rugs and tapestries. Blessed with a relatively mild climate that lends itself to farming, it retains a rural flavor.
Our ancestors who emigrated from La Marche are listed below. The dates reflect the year they arrived in Canada if known, otherwise it is the date of their earliest appearances in the records there:
- Leonard LeBlanc (1650) of Blessac.
