Jean-Baptiste Gervais

Jean-Baptiste Gervais and Véronique Patenaude were both twenty when they married on 19 Jan 1761 in Longueuil in the midst of war. Losing the Guerre de la Conquête (French and Indian War) in 1763 meant their children would grow up under British rule.

Véronique gave birth to ten children, though not all survived childhood. Our ancestor Marie Gervais was born 10 May 1770.

Marie was married in 1788. Her father Jean-Baptiste Gervais died in Longueuil on 19 April 1791. He was followed some years later by Véronique Patenaude on 10 November 1797.
