Jean-Baptiste Gervais
and Marie-Reine Lanctôt.
His mother and her father married in 1742, but the young couple had already found each other. Jean-Baptiste Gervais and Marie-Reine Lanctôt were married in Longueuil on 10 April 1736. Their son, our ancestor, Jean-Baptiste was born on 13 February 1741 in Longueuil. He married in 1761.
The couple appear in the 1765 census taken after France's defeat and its loss of its colony to England. They owned a home on 45 arpens of land, all of which was cultivated. They had three oxen, one cow, three horses and five pigs.
Though Marie-Reine Lanctôt's date of death has not been found, Jean-Baptiste Gervais (the father) died at the age of 77 on 24 December 1791.
