Census of 1910.
The 1910 census shows Edesse and Odilon still residing on Milwaukee Avenue where he continued to ply his trade as a shoemaker in the shop he owned. Chicago had renumbered its streets so their house number jumped to 2314. Likewise, the Odenbretts address changed to 2714 Rhine with Joseph and Lulu Petelle close by at 2718 Rhine.
In this census it is revealed that her oldest son Narcisse Rocque and his wife Anna had moved to Washington. It was there that Paul, perhaps visiting his older brother, met and married Cuma Whinery. Hermine, who had remarried in 1901, was living in Ashland with her husband, William Woodman and four of her sons. Several of her older boys lived nearby with their families.
With her grandchildren growing up, marrying and starting new families of their own, Edesse had to cope with the loss of her second husband. Odilon passed away July 27, 1913. A horse-drawn carriage delivered him to his final resting place.
Shortly after she was widowed, Edesse moved into her daughter Matilda's house on Rhine. Joseph's family, and Charles and his wife Corinne, lived on Milwaukee Avenue. It was the latter couple's son, Paul Henry, who years later wrote to his cousin Walter Joseph reminiscing, "I guess both of us remember grandmother Edesse and the inevitable snuff box that was always within reach."
