In the Company of
Family and Friends.
As stated earlier, Paul Mondou most likely figured into Narcisse and Edesse's decision to leave Québec for Wisconsin. Working as a railway agent, he covered a lot of territory from Montréal, Vermont, New York, Wisconsin and Illinois. Paul very well could have planned the journey which brought his sister and her family to their new home. In the 1870 census he, his wife Emily, and seven children were living in Wisconsin. He was a passenger agent for the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway in 1875 and resided at 381 Greenbush, Milwaukee, near the train depot where he worked.
Goyette family members often appear in church records as witnesses to Petelle births and marriages. Pierre Goyette was godfather to the youngest of Edesse's children, Paul, and he was also Noe Gervais' uncle. Both the Goyettes and Gervais' were distant cousins of the family. Noe Gervais would marry the Petelle's eldest daughter, Hermine. So when the Petelle family chose Wisconsin, it was to be among family and friends.
