Jean-Baptiste Poupart and
Marie-Catherine Gervais.
First Marriage.
Jean-Baptiste, 24, was living in Saint-Lambert when he married Marguerite Patenaude on 8 October 1713 in La Prairie. They had one daughter, Marie-Marguerite born 3 April 1714, who married François Babeu in 1735. Wife Marguerite died the year after their daughter was born, on 24 November 1715.
Our Ancestor.
It was not long before he remarried. Jean-Baptiste wed our ancestor Marie-Catherine Gervais on 23 February 1716 in La Prairie. We descend from their son, also named Jean-Baptiste. The first of six children, he was born 4 August 1718.
Jean-Baptiste Poupart (the father) died 13 April 1730, age 40. Marie-Catherine Gervais never did remarry. She lived another 30 years, passing on 9 Jan 1763 at age 73, just before the end of the French and Indian War.
Their son Jean-Baptiste married Marie-Madeleine Deniger in 1742.
