Beaudin Family.
Charles Baudin.
Charles Baudin (or Bodin) was born before 1640, the son of Jean Baudin and Marguerite Coudré. A stonemason by trade, he married Jeanne Moinet on 11 April 1660. Their nine children were baptized in Notre-Dame in Niort, Poitou. Our ancestor René was born 29 July 1663.
Charles and Jeanne were married 19 years before Jeanne's death. She was buried 10 May 1679.
René apprenticed for several years to become a maçon (stone mason) and tailleur de pierres (stone cutter) like his father. Once he had attained some level of expertise he became a journeyman and then finally a master mason.
He was about 21 when his father Charles died 10 June 1684 at the age of 44. Soon after his death René to travelled across the seas to find his place in the world.
