Guyenne is on the Atlantic coast in the southwest of France close to the Pyrenees. The lands were part of the Aquitaine and were often in the midst of rancorous battles. It was there that the Hundred Years war began in 1345. British rulers, who held the area until 1453, dubbed it Guyenne.
